Comments: | I hate the ginger dressing that most Jap. rest. serve, (Hikari's actually gagged my son and made him throw up at the table) but this rest. has the horseradish/ranch type like Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse. We love the yellow sauce that Tokyo serves with the shrimp appetizer, and they will give you a big bowl of it here if you ask for it. Tokyo has gotten too crowded, we never have to wait for a table at Fuji. They don't serve the noodles that Tokyo does, though. I've got the recipe for the yellow sauce, email me at andrea@thesampsons.org . |

Comments: | they even have to go!! this place is so good, especially great to have by the movies cause we are losers and dont do anything on fridays... but eat sushi... so good. the sushi guy is great, he offered us saki once... but the waitress said no no no! he was joking anyway, the grill chefs are so high energy and talkative, hilarious. this place is great, kind of expensive, though we dont have jobs... |

Comments: | First of all, I've been spoiled by excellent sushi places in San Francisco Bay Area, so I am comparing the places here to those...
I had my "tasting trio" nigiri - sake (salmon), hamachi (yellow tail), and shiro maguro (white tuna, albacore). Salmon was OK, but not spectacular.
Both white tuna and hamachi were sliced from a seared block of fish, so the edges of the slices wer cooked ~ 1/10 inch. When I enquired about the reason for this strange practice (I've never seen it done before), the sushi shef replied that that was the usual practice of this and other places in KC area.
Anyway, these two nigiri smelled weird (combination of fish-cooked fish smells) and tasted substandard. I did not get sick, but I am not going back there for sushi! |
