Comments: Great restaurant with friendly people. Food is cooked right in front of you. We were weary to try Japanese food, but loved it so much that we go back atleast once a week!

Restaurant: Tokyo Japanese SteakhouseLocation: Barry Road-152
Cuisine: Japanese-SushiPrice: $$$ moderate
Ambience: * averageNotes: Going Downhill
Food: * averageNotes: A lot of New Cooks
Service: poorNotes: New Waitress
Favorites: Mainly the Sushi now
Comments: I used to frequent Tokyo but it is going downhill, With a white waitress made me feel like Waffle House, except there I get refills... kinda killed the mood. Portions are smaller. Great overturn in cooks making food lackluster. Sushi is very good but Wasabe seemed old and bland. They have more bad cooks then good when it comes to skill with tricks. No more bowl in the hat, flippling of knives. Rarely See the volcano with the onion rings. If your lucky you might get a glance from a different cook across the room. I would really encourage you to try some of the other positive reviews seen here before spending your money. Pray another will come soon in KC.

Food: **** superbNotes: very fresh
Service: **** superbNotes: best dining experience of my life
Favorites: eel and tuna
Comments: We ate at the sushi bar, the service was wonderful. Dave rocks. He was our sushi chef. It was worth the trip just to talk to him, we felt like we made a new friend when we left. Our waitress was very helpful and took very good care of us. The quality of the food was excellent, very fresh, very flavorful. This was a true dining EXPERIENCE. The sushi bar at Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse is my new favorite restaurant. If you've never tried sushi because you thought it was fishy or gross, check out this place. It's fantastic!!

Comments: The reason for the bad ambience rating is the manager. While we were sitting for our meal, the manager started yelling at one of the waitstaff right there in the middle of the dining room. I was shocked to see this display. He singlehandedly ruined the entire night. Later one of the waitstaff said in passing that he does stuff like that. Get some therapy, man!
