Comments: | I can't believe that a business would serve a sandwich, and some BEANS that looked like they came out of a can of pork & beans for $12. This is great advertisement, after being TOOK like that you know I would break my neck getting to your restaurant to have a meal!! If the Speedway sets your prices, and what you serve you would best give them your spot back, as it is terrible advertisement for your restaurant. |

Comments: | What a shame this place could in any way be associated with the rep of KC's famous BBQ tradition! The ribs were chared black, tough, crispy and dry. The beef/pork slices and beans were tender but covered in a BBQ sauce unlike any other I have ever tasted and hope to never again. Plain and simply put...that was the worst food I've ever eaten. |

Comments: | I was expecting good bbq. What I got was a very dissappointing meal. Sause was not bbq. Can,t really explain what it was. It took away from good meat. Pork and brisket would have been excellent if not for the sause. The ribs were creamated. Portions were very generous. Fries were the best part of the meal. |

The ribs contained No Meat, The pork was fatty. But the sausage was fair,The beans came out of a can, No meat. sad to say this will not be repeated, there are Many Good locations in this city for BBQ, Haywards did not meet the Minimum Standard. |

on 98th & Lackman! Never happened! It wasn't ready when I got there. I had
to wait 20 minutes! The 'extra sauce in a bottle' was NEVER in there! NO
UTENSILS to eat with were in there! The lady at the register tried really
hard-it is NOT her fault! They should have NEVER had a NEW person to fill
such a HUGE order!!! My employer wants to schedule another luncheon due to
the client's vote-NOT OURS-tomorrow, but we are leary to say the least!!!
We ask that the luncheon be FREE for tomorrow to make up the DISASTER this
created!!! |

Comments: | Having grown up in K.C. I always thought Haywards was the best Bbq in town and often spoke highly of it. I get back to K.C. a few times a year and try to experience the Bbq I remember. It's GONE! All of my visits within the last year have been a total dissapointment. I was in KC last week and gave it another chance, all to my dissapointment. The beef on the combo platter had a tasteless, almost a "washed off taste", except for
the sauce it was drenched in, and the 3 ribs tasted as if they had been
re-heated in a microwave. The entire meal was cold including the onion
rings. I must say this is the last time for me, as I have given up on what
I once considered best Bbq in K.C. at Haywards. Chances are if this
continues they won't be in business much longer. Its really a shame. |

Comments: | While acknowledged as the flagship barbeque restaurant in KC in the 80's, the quality did slip a half notch in the middle 90's. Pleased to report that, with the addition of a new general manager, it has left Hayward to do what he does best- barbeque and hob knob with the patrons. Any weaknesses have been shored up and the bedrock beef brisket is still "the one" and the other staples have come back strong. The dining room can still use a good makeover decorating wise, but this is still a "can't miss this one" stop on any barbeque tour, no matter how short. |

Comments: | Although a bit in need of modernizing, I think the old style adds to the atmosphere. This is by far MY favorite BBQ place in KC and would be proud to take anyone there. All other places are commercial rest. and this is ORIGINAL. Try any pork or beef, you'll love it. Service was good during lunch rush, Mr. Hayward came over and asked if food was ok, very nice guy. Take out is a bit sketchy, they tend to mess up orders. Onion Rings are the BEST anywhere. Portions are generous and we were served in 10 minutes or less after ordering. I've been eating here since 84' and they've still got me coming back. Good job Hayward. |

Comments: | I remember eating at the original Hayward's and after the move to Antioch. Food was excellent and stopped by at least once a week. Moved away and was in OP on business and stopped by for lunch. No problem getting seated at 12:30 and now I know why. The facility has deterioated and food quality is bad. Beef tasted bad and onion rings were meally and cold. This place cannot be owned by the same person. Arby's taste better. Service was great from person seating and waitress, but she was swamped with below average capacity crowd and other responsibilties (i.e. cashier). |

Comments: | I have been haywards lover for many years. I have noticed over the past 10 years that it has gone down-hill. The prices have continued to sky-rocket, while the quality has plunged. The food is usually room temp when get it, and the burnt ends are crispy, burnt..fatty. It's ashame that once was a great place has turned bad..I probably still eat there once a year! |
