Comments: | I'd heard about OJ's from a number of friends, then saw a segment on Food Network which featured the show. On a whim we headed over for some take-out. At first we had a hard time spotting the place. We thought the gas station on the corner was a gas station on the corner. Turns out it's a 'combo' gas station and fabulous BBQ joint. The place is clean and tidy, with just enough rustic decor' to make it fun. Our young son loved it. There was a long line when we arrived, but the staff behind the counter moved fast. The huge chalkboard menu is great, as you can read it even at the end of a long line. The sandwiches were large and generous, as was the order of fries. The flavor of the Carolina Pork Sandwich was mouthwatering, and I instantly wanted to come back for more. I was delighted with the sweet & spicy fries, very unique and full of flavor. My husband gobbled down the Pulled Pork Sandwich so fast that I didn't get a taste. Must've been good. Needless!
to say, OJ's has moved into our #1 favorite BBQ place in KC. Take the kids!

Comments: | Some coworkers took me there in 1999 insisting I knew nothing about good BBQ until I'd had OK Joe's. There were right. I've had 'em all and nothing compares. I've been going back just about weekly ever since. The lines are long at lunch, but that's the point. It's good enough that people don't mind waiting for it. |

Comments: | I thought I knew great bbq. Well, I proved myself wrong after coming here. As soon as I pulling up to the gas station, I knew it was going to be good. Everytime I go to a hole-in-the-wall place, it just rocks! Actually, it is clean, family oriented, and great service. I don't care if I have to wait because it is sooooo worth it! HINT: When ordering fires, one order is sufficient for 2.

Comments: | I visited the restaurant for the first time this week after hearing such great things about it for years. Frankly, I was dissapointed. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which I'm told is a specialty there. The meat was quite dry and not very flavorful. The saving grace of the meal was the BBQ beans. What I ended up doing was taking the meat from the sandwich and stirring it into the beans. Maybe my expectations were just too high, but I'd go to Bryant's every time over OK Joe's. |

Comments: | Just learned that Oklahoma Joe's had opened a new location in Olathe. This usually means a step down in service & quality but not for Joe! The place is much larger than the original Joe's, and not part of a gas station. It's right next to Tractor Supply at 119th & Strang Line. The decor' is very charming, and they've brought the nicest elements along from the original. The service is very fast and everyone is friendly. Again, the portions are quite large and the food is superb. Simply THE best BBQ in all of KC. Their fries are fantastic, dunked in their sauce. Love it! |
