Comments: | Staff is friendly; however too much time spent socializing with co-workers, and not enough attention given to diners. BBQ sauce is average. Little pricy. Bread severed with meal is tasteless and not very fresh. Would recommend a baked potato insted of fries. Cole slaw is very good. Overall, not the best BBQ, nor the worst. Mediocre. |

Comments: | This is one of the best Barbeque places in town. The brick pits when you walk in the door will tell you that. The potato salad is almost
heaven. Sometimes when I do my own Que at home I stop by just to get a
half gallon of that creamy potato salad. Its worth it just to go eat that. |

Favorites: | BAKED BEANS! Jr Smokehouse sandwich, burnt ends |
Comments: | I hate baked beans, but I will only eat them at Smokehouse. I introduced a lot of my friends to this restaurant and they all agree w/ me about the beans. I always get the smokehouse sandwich w/ turkey and beef. You can choose your own combo. The fries are always good too.
The prices are good, but I think they overcharge fo the smokehouse sandwich by a dollar. I don't care though, I am willing to pay it!
It always smells funny in here. It's a combo of good bbq and cleaning products.
It pisses me off that you have to pay up in front. Why cant the waitress just ring up the order? What a pain. I am sure that they have been cheated out of tips bc of this.

Service: | poor | Notes: | Don't even try complaining to the manager here. |
Favorites: | |
Comments: | This restaurant has a very limited menu. Additionally, I've tried to order carry out from them several times. They are ALWAYS behind schedule and make me wait to pick up my order. Then, they never give you an adequate box, so the smelly sauce leaks all over your car! When I complained about this, the manager (long blonde hair) was extremely rude. She acted as if I had done something to offend her. My dine-in experience wasn't that great either. The salad was wilted, and service was slow. |

Comments: | For a food that has been prepared for the last several thousand years, SMOKEHOUSE has improved it. I consider myself a very good critic of BBQ and these folks have my full support. While working in Iowa and away from Tulsa, I have stopped numerous times over the years to eat here, and have made several trips to KC JUST to get the beans, approx. 40+ gals. in the last 5 years. There are NONE better anywhere. Have also eaten at the Independance location with the same results. Only wish they would freeze and mail ,but I will continue to go the distance. |

Comments: | I am originally from K.C., but have lived in San Antonio,TX, and currently in Memphis,TN and have never had as good of BBQ as this establishment. The only place that might be better is Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ or Bates City BBQ. I have had: (KC)Gate's, Arthur Bryant's, Zarda, KC masterpiece, Jack Stack, Bate's City(TX) Rudy's BBQ, The Barbecue station, The Lone star, Alamo Cafe(Memphis) The Rendezvous(YUM!), Corky's, Interstate BBQ, Showboat(YUK!) J.Alexanders. Just an idea of my tastes. If you get a chance, get a hamburger from LC's in Parkville,MO while in KC. They are the best I have ever had (Dont ask me why, somehting in the grease I guess) |

Service: | poor | Notes: | Our server was horrendous |
Favorites: | None |
Comments: | Where to start ... the service was slow and the server clueless. My wife, who was breastfeeding, asked for a PLAIN chicken and shrimp dish. Apparently, the server and cook were too stupid to understand the word "plain." The first time, the shrimp was coated in spices (not good for the baby), as was the chicken. So they took it back. 20 minutes later it arrives again, with the chicken plain but the shrimp still coated in butter and garlic. After trying to explain to them how "plain" works, they didn't even apologize and again tried to make it right. My burnt ends were horrible, with little to no flavor and drenched in that ketchup they try to pass off as sauce. Overall, a horrible experience. Anyone who goes here either has not taste buds, no clue of real bbq, or no desire for good service. |
