Comments: | If you looking for a nice quasi-romantic place to eat to then
Cafe Italia is the place. I like that they serve a salad and soup before your meal arrives. Plus, they treat you to some bread with a plate of romana cheese and olive oil. Nothing is better. The only thing missing is some Italian guy singing Italian love songs. |

Comments: | This is by far one of the finest restaurants in KC. If it wasn’t enough that the quality of the food and the portions are second to none, the service and atmosphere are way above what you would expect from a restaurant in this price category. Even the appetizers are huge. Try the stuffed artichoke, just like mama yousta make! Everything in this restaurant is made fresh daily, even the Italian bread, which is made by one of the owner's mothers. The greatest thing is that no matter what you want, the owners will fix it for you, I asked for Gnocci, a dumpling popular in southern Italian cooking, even though this was not a menu item, My server brought the chef out, who was also an owner, and he told me that this would be no problem (Very impressive). The gnocci was fabulous. Also, all the meals include a fresh made soup, salad, fresh baked Italian bread, (served with olive oil and pecorino cheese), and the meat entrees also include a side of pasta. For an average menu price about $15.00 this is an unbelievable value. Other notable items are the steaks, I know this is an Italian restaurant, but the steaks deserve a mention, Their deserts are to die for. I particularly enjoyed the tira mi su, also made fresh daily. Café Italia offers smoking and non-smoking areas, and reservations are accepted anytime, and are recommended on weekends and holidays. Kudos Cafe Italia, you have won a place in my heart.

Comments: | We were somewhat disappointed with this place. The food was quite good, and the wine list while small was reasonably priced. But we were hoping for a finer dining experience than the prices offered. There is nothing fancy or romantic about this place. |

Comments: | I have been travelling from St. Louis to Kansas City for 38 weeks for business and believe me I have been to many many restaurants, but this restaurant has impressed me the most. The attentive waiter, the 'Italian butter' (extra virgin olive oil & grated romano cheese), the Eggplant Parmesan, the atmosphere... I could not have asked for more. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! |

Comments: | Nervous new waiters need to have more experience before being on their own. Such things as the proper way to serve wine from a bottle, asking ladies their choice of menu before men and serving salads that looked old. We have always enjoyed this restaurant and the fine food they serve but this experience kind of spoiled it. We were also seated in a smoking section without being ask our preference probably because we had a child with us this time because there were many open tables when we arrived. There are so many other restaurants out there to choose from and I hope you will consider my suggestions. |
