Comments: | Our first and only visit to date was on Friday, Apr.5. We arrived at 6 P.M.,and were greeted and sat immediatley. Not much of a crowd for Friday, never a good sign. The restaurant never was more than half full throughout our meal. Appetizer (Calamari) and entrees were not noteworthy. The daily special (Seafood Lasagna) was particularly disappointing. The noodles were overcooked and mushy. The seafood filling was ample, but the dish was drowned in a bland, pasty white sauce that could have used a touch of seasoning and/or white wine. The sauce totally ruined the dish. A firmer lasagna, served on a plate instead of a pasta bowl, with just enough sauce to complement would have been a nice touch. Considering the length of time it took for food to arrive, we expected more. The only redeeming aspect of our visit was our server, Tiffany. By far, the best service we've experienced in Johnson County. |

Comments: | My wife and I returned to my home town of KC once or twice a year. This particular evening, we needed a break from the relatives. Every place we called had a wait of over an hour- not an option with a tired 6 year old. Tony himself answered and said, "..you don't worry about a thing, we'll take care of you and we love kids.." (a welcome change from the Old Navy teenager answering the phone at bucca or the other chain stores). When we arrived, the restaurant was only about half to 2/3 full, but also just right. Tony and the hostess greeted us, and from the moment we set foot in the place, Tony and his friends fulfilled every letter of his promise on the phone and more. The food was, simply put, outstanding! From the fresh bread to the caesar salads to the lasagna, fettucini and even our 6 year old's mac n cheese, it was every bit as good or better than any we've had in the best Italian restaurants in much larger cities- any of Rich Melman's restaurants or Charlie Carlucci (that's saying something friends)'s places like Vinnie's in Chicago. Tony could give them a run. Bravo!! While we spent a bit more than we had planned before the nite started, we came away feeling great and remarking "..you know, I don't mind paying a little extra for excellent food, great atmosphere and friendly hospitality ... well worth it." |

Comments: | To give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt, we ate there several times; unfortunately it got worse instead of better. Problem is the food! We would not be surprised to see empty jars of Ragu sauce
and/or empty Swanson frozen food containers in their trash. Your server
will spend 10 minutes bragging about their authenic italian cooking and
bore you death with the history of the restaurant...WHO CARES?
Suggestion: hire Italian cooks! |
